Becoming the Woman I Needed — Letting Go of Who I Used to Be

Lately, I’ve started to notice something… As much as I’m trying to find myself, there are parts of me I’m slowly leaving behind. Old habits. Old reactions. Old ways of thinking. The version of me who used to overthink everything. Who needed validation. Who felt like she had to explain herself… all the time. I didn’t realise how much I carried. How much of myself was shaped by what others needed from me… instead of what I needed for myself. And now, as I’m changing… Something else has shifted within me. I’ve reached a place where… not everything bothers me anymore. There is a calm. A quiet stillness inside me that wasn’t there before. I don’t feel the same urgency to react, to prove, to keep everything together all the time. Sometimes… I just want to be. And for the first time, I’m allowing that. If I don’t feel like working in a moment, I let myself pause. Not out of laziness… but out of listening to myself. I don’t want to be told what to do anymore just because I’m “supposed to” or because I’ve always done it. Yes, I will do what is my responsibility — for my family, for my children, for my work. But after that… there is me. And I’m starting to choose her too. Even if that means stepping out, enjoying a moment, taking time for myself without guilt. Because I’m beginning to understand… my life is not just about responsibilities. It’s also about me living it. There is no chaos inside me anymore. Just a quiet awareness. A sense that I don’t need to rush, I don’t need to force things. I’m still finding myself. Still searching for what I truly want from this life. What feels like mine. What I genuinely enjoy. But now my thoughts are moving in a different direction. Not just about what needs to be done… but about what I want to do. For myself. Something that belongs to me. Something that feels like me. And maybe that’s the biggest shift. I’m no longer just living for everyone else. I’m slowly making space… to live for myself too. And even though I’m still figuring things out… this calm tells me one thing — I’m exactly where I need to be.
