Becoming the Woman I Needed — I Am No Longer Available for Everything

Lately, I’ve started noticing something about myself… I’m not as available as I used to be. And to be honest… it feels uncomfortable. For so long, I was always there. Always saying yes. Always showing up. Always making sure everything and everyone was taken care of. Even when I was tired. Even when I didn’t feel like it. Even when it came at the cost of myself. Because somewhere along the way… I thought that’s what I was supposed to do. Be available. Be reliable. Be everything for everyone. But slowly… I’ve started to feel the weight of it. The exhaustion. The feeling of being taken for granted. The silence where appreciation should have been. And I realised something — No matter what you do… it’s never enough. You can try every day. You can show up again and again. But still… you’ll be asked questions like — “How many listings have you got?” “Show your phone.” As if your effort needs constant proof. As if everything you do beyond that doesn’t exist. And I find myself thinking — If what I do is still not enough… then maybe keep an assistant. Someone who can just get the work done. Because I am not just here to be questioned all the time. I am a person… not just a role. And that’s where something shifted in me. I realised — Being available all the time doesn’t make people value you more. Sometimes… it just makes them expect more. So now… I’m trying something different. I’m learning to pause before I say yes. I’m learning to ask myself — Do I really want to do this? And if the answer is no… I’m learning to accept that. Without guilt. Without over explaining. Because boundaries are important. Even if people don’t understand them. Even if they question them. Even if they don’t like them. That doesn’t make them wrong. That just means they’re not used to this version of you. And maybe… that’s okay. Because I’m not becoming distant. I’m not becoming selfish. I’m just becoming someone who understands her own limits. Someone who values her own energy. Someone who knows that peace is more important than pleasing everyone. I still care. I still do what is required. I still show up where it matters. But I no longer feel the need to be everywhere, for everyone, all the time. And there is a quiet strength in that. A calm. A sense of control over my own life. I’m learning that saying no doesn’t make me a bad person. It makes me an honest one. And maybe… this is part of healing too. Not just finding yourself… but protecting yourself. Protecting your time. Protecting your energy. Protecting your peace. So now… I choose where I give myself. I choose where I show up. And for the first time… that choice feels like freedom. Because I’m no longer trying to be everything for everyone. I’m just learning to be enough for myself 🌿
