Becoming the Woman I Needed — I Don’t Shrink Myself Anymore 🌿
There was a time…
when I used to hold on to everything.
Every word.
Every hurt.
Every small thing that stayed in my heart
longer than it should have.
I would overthink it.
Feel it deeply.
Cry over it.
And somewhere in all of that…
I started shrinking myself.
Adjusting.
Staying quiet.
Letting others’ opinions
become louder than my own voice.
But now…
something has changed.
I don’t hold on to pain the same way anymore.
I release it.
Through writing.
Through my blogs.
And every time I write…
I feel a little lighter.
A little more free.
And when I sit quietly
and connect myself to God’s hymns…
there is a peace I can’t explain.
It calms me.
It brings me back to myself.
I still listen to people.
I hear what they say.
But now…
I choose what feels right to me.
I don’t shrink myself
to fit into someone else’s thinking.
Because I’ve realised something —
People will talk anyway.
They will judge you.
They will criticise you.
They will have opinions
no matter what you do.
So why not just do
what feels right to you?
Why not live your life
your way?
Earlier…
I used to get hurt easily.
I used to think —
Maybe I’m wrong.
Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.
But now I see it differently.
It wasn’t always me.
It was what they believed.
Their perspective.
Their thinking.
And you cannot change that.
No matter how much you try.
So I stopped trying.
I stopped explaining.
I stopped shrinking.
And I started choosing myself.
Looking after myself.
Even in small ways.
Going out for a coffee.
Spending time with my kids.
Going for a walk.
Or simply sitting with myself in silence.
And in those moments…
I feel peace.
Real peace.
Not loud.
Not exciting.
Just calm.
And I think…
this is part of healing.
I still don’t have everything figured out.
I still don’t know exactly
what I want from life.
But these small moments…
they are helping me reconnect.
Helping me listen to myself more.
My instincts.
My inner voice.
And I like it.
I do feel anxious sometimes.
Nervous.
Scared.
But I don’t stop anymore.
I still do what I feel is right.
Even if it’s slow.
Even if it’s uncomfortable.
Because I know…
I am finding my way back.
Gradually.
Step by step.
With faith in God.
And I believe…
sooner or later…
I will feel completely at ease
with who I am
and everything I choose.
Right now…
I just want peace.
No chaos.
No drama.
Just a simple life.
Moving forward…
slowly and gently.
And if you’re reading this
and feel the same…
just believe one thing —
You don’t have to shrink yourself
to be accepted.
You just have to be yourself.
And that is enough 🌿
