Becoming the Woman I Needed — I Am More Than What People Think Of Me 🌿

For years, I started measuring myself through people’s reactions. One mistake made me feel like I wasn’t enough. But now I’m slowly learning that I am more than what people think of me.” For the longest time, I allowed people’s words, reactions, and criticism to decide how I felt about myself. If someone appreciated me, I felt good. If someone criticized me, I questioned myself completely. One mistake could ruin my entire day. Sometimes even my confidence. And slowly, without realizing it, I started reducing myself to other people’s opinions. Especially as a woman after marriage. You become so many things at once — a wife, a mother, someone managing the house, the cooking, the children, the emotional responsibilities… and somewhere in all of that, you stop seeing yourself beyond your duties. People also forget very quickly. One small mistake becomes bigger than the hundred things you quietly do every single day. If food is not perfect one day, all your effort disappears. If you forget something small, suddenly you are made to feel careless. And after hearing criticism repeatedly for years, you slowly begin believing that maybe you are not enough. But lately… I’ve started realising something important. Cooking does not define my worth. Housework does not define my worth. Being perfect every second does not define my worth. I am more than responsibilities. More than mistakes. More than people’s reactions. I am a human being who learned everything along the way. Nobody taught me how to manage a home, children, responsibilities, emotions, and life all together. I learned slowly. By trying. By failing. By growing. And honestly… that itself deserves kindness. Not constant criticism. For so long, I looked for validation outside myself. I wanted appreciation. Respect. Love. And when I didn’t receive it, I felt emotionally drained. As if something was wrong with me. But now… I’m slowly separating my identity from how people choose to see me. Because people see from their own mindset. Some people only notice mistakes. Some only criticize. Some never acknowledge effort. And that says more about them than it does about you. I no longer want criticism to become my inner voice. I no longer want one harsh comment to decide my self-worth. Instead… I want to reconnect with myself again. The girl I was before fear, overthinking, and emotional exhaustion took over. The girl who laughed freely. Who trusted herself. Who lived lightly. And maybe healing is exactly this — slowly rebuilding confidence without needing constant approval from others. Learning to value yourself even when others fail to. Learning that your heart, your effort, your intentions matter too. And through all of this… my faith in God keeps guiding me back to myself. Every difficult phase has taught me something. Maybe this phase was teaching me to finally see my own worth. Not through people’s opinions. But through my own eyes. I still have healing left to do. I still get hurt sometimes. But one thing is changing slowly inside me — I no longer believe I am only what people think of me. I am so much more than that 🌿
